Except the house is actually located in Bridgehampton, New York.
Yes, this is the house used in Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. I stood where Kate Winslet stood and proclaimed;
“We are David and Ruth Laskin. Which one do you want to be? I prefer to be Ruth, but I’m flexible.”
A friend/co-worker of mine whose family has a vacation home out on The Hamptons, invited me up for a weekend a few years back, and I got a brief tour of the house. He is friends with the family that owns it. I also got to swim in the pool (those are our towels hanging on the fence), and was informed that the house may or may not be haunted!
Needles to say I was very excited! I took the photo a few hours later. I feel like the house is a character all its own in the film.
I am very aware that this is off topic because frankly Eternal Sunshine, in my opinion, is one of the best movies of all time. It’s a wonderfully original story, superbly acted (one of Jim Carrey’s best films), and was beautifully directed.
If for some reason you live under a rock and have not seen this film…
Go see it right now!
The score and soundtrack are amazing as well.
Anyway, I thought it was super cool, and I just wanted to share. :D
